I'm a bit upset tonight...my neighbors dogs ( 3 large
hound dogs) had several barking jags at their side yard gate
really unnerving and so frustrating to hear them...with our side door open...really bad...the people have been really good to call them and sometimes bring them in...they were not home today to do that....when they did get home ...I went over to tell them the dogs barked a lot...etc...and they were not very nice to me....my peace at home is invaded often and now my brain needs to shake off their rudeness...but it is hard for me to let it go...What a quandary.....This consistent barking dog (s) is new to me these years and I don't know what to do.......Any ideas out there.............
Otherwise what I want to comment on is the people we see out there standing on the side walks with a big advertisement sign...waving it back and forth...some with great gusto...some less animated...This is not an easy job and I commend them to do it....a way to earn some money...etc....as far as I believe...a
difficult task....good for them and their determination  to do something to earn a few dollars.....
Going to sign off...tired for some reason...maybe the heat...in California...it is really not so bad compared to some states...I'm a wimp and the heat is not my friend as I have become older............
See you in the funny papers...........Louisa

Huntington Beach....art walk...........

Took all my paintings....bird houses....assorted tiles...medium size and small...
to the Huntington Beach Art Walk.....really lots of work...getting everything to
my assigned site....I was happy to have my husband as my helper....
The crowd was adequate......lots of looky loos.....I sold 3 things.....a small bird
cage....and one person bought two of my canvases....So it was successful in that
respect...I may go again ...perhaps in August....
Here's a couple...........Ciao from Louisa

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.....................................

I was looking at my daughters In-Style magazine
the other day at her condo...so many pictures of
"Things".....I've been looking at a new and enjoyable
site called "Pinterest" more pictures...really all
pictures...pretty much...When I'm at the market
I confess I sometimes take my shopping cart to
the remotest aisle and go through several magazines...
just looking at the pictures....I don't think I'm alone
in my obsession with pictures....but not just any
pictures...I prefer pretty ones...attractive people....
and the like....Perhaps the explanation is that I and
others need an escape now and then...from life's
mundane aspects...times...etc...It's alright I think...
I do not avoid the rest of life's pictures...seedy....sad...
destructive...devestating...etc... they too are important
to see... to ponder and to have compassion for....to say
a prayer for.........
Leaving you with this ...whats on my mind tonight.............
See you in the funny papers.....Louisa

THOSE WHO DO FOR OTHERS................

I wonder this day what makes some people go out and do
selfless....remarkable...life changing things for others....
The man who went to Afganistan ...to the mountain villages...
intending to build schools...and at great peril and great sacrifice
he did just that...I want to say his last name startes with an M.
I read his book...sorry I can't remember...You can google ...
building schools in the mountain villages of Afganistan....
If you want to read about him and his work...Morgenson...maybe
that is his name.............
Servants heart of all time Mother Teresa....her calling was
deep...focused...determined...loving...sure and she did it
with all her being....She is on my highest admiration pedestal....
Just saw something briefly ...about an Indian man who wants
to bring education to the poorest of the poor in India....important
to him...that these children who know only the worst deprevation
have the opportunity to learn...use their brains and make monumental
changes in their lives because of it..........The priest who started Boys
Town....the movie with Spenser Tracy is worth watching...Mickey
Rooney...such a talented actor...along with Mr. Tracy....He wanted
to give wayward boys a Christian place to live ...a place full of love
that said to them ....your worth so much more than you believe ....and as
the years passed there minds and hearts knew the truth of that......
A huge shout out to all the missionaries in this world...they have their
calling that is ingrained with in them...so deep and strong...so all encompasing.
I salute you..................................Louisa......................

HARD NOT TO BE ANNOYED AT THE ANNOYING THINGS OUT THERE....

I have a hard time not being annoyed....
My biggest annoyer is myself....I annoy the
heck out of myself...I'm annoyed by what I perceive
as a slight by a friend or one of my
kids... I'm annoyed that I can't spell and am constantly
reaching for my well-worn dictionary...I'm annoyed by
the direction my country has taken....I'm annoyed at the
entertainment industry...for not seeing the foul path they
have taken for the last many many years....I'm annoyed
by the shows that feature children wearing makeup and
prancing around like adults...I'm annoyed by their parents
who seem to have no sense of right and wrong...I'm annoyed
by how long it took me to find perceive in the dictionary...as
I was looking pre...pri...pro...finally I had to ask someone here
in the house....cuz I was way off....Geez!!! I get annoyed by
my slow reaction to a derogatory comment made by someone...
derogatory toward me or anyone or anything...the next
day my grand come back has arrived......this tends to be a more
common scenario than not....I'm regularly annoyed by the 3 hound dogs next door...who bark sometimes incessantly and it is like a freight train coming through the house...I'm annoyed by how
persnickety I can be...fussy girl to the max....
Well folks...how many of you are out there...I hope one...one would be good....I'm going to close...there is much more I could tell you about my annoyance level...but that could be long....longer...
So tomorrow I hope I'm concentrating on what brings me joy....yes that will be a brighter place to be and to share...Thanks for listening....my hundreds of readers....I wish you would give me some more feed back....I love to hear from you....Come on....
See you in the funny papers.........................Louisa.............

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Well tonight....my mind is being bogged down
by some personal items...that are giving me a
big fat kind of a fit....So my concentration is
lousy with interference that I can't seem to control...
Anyhoo...I'd like to leave you with one of the saying's...
that I collect ....that I like...that are special to me...
............Each small kindness like a seed grows
                     tall in memory.............
Night and stay well............................Louisa

Things I like....................

Hello and Hello....
Got my music on...did I tell you
that I like the voice of Marc Anthony....
It has uniqueness and a marvelous sound...
Close to my guy Elvis, and then there is
the uniqueness of Roy Orbison's voice...
He sang "Pretty Women"..............
There are only 3 I love of Marc's songs....
"I need to Know...... "You Sang To Me"...
"Love Is all"....these 3 songs...send my 70 year
old musical being into a place so sweet and
content... with my youth so near...so real...so
alive...that is what music does to me....
When I drive alone a long distance...my I-pod
is my best car partner....I have taken to putting it
under my bra-strap...think for my birthday I will
ask one of the fam....for a suction type holder for
the dashboard...as under the bra...can be a bit to loud...
Wow...how exciting was all that...Can't believe I'm
talking about my bra!!!!! Many exclamations for that...
And there I am singing away with a real singers expression
that the song calls for on my face...doing this is just a happy-
happy thing for me....Call me a closet singer....
Another thing I like...cuz I know my hundreds of readers
are wondering....I like color...I have come to the firm
conclusion that I do not particularly like blue...green is
it for me...rust...deep deep yellows...A few years ago I
decided I could no longer live with the white walls in this
house...so I went out and bought...this color...."Sweet Corn"
It is the prettiest shade of deep yellow...very deep...not a bright
yellow...EEeek....Also I'm in love with gold...and as I said green...
like oh I don't know not like grass green...not mint...shoot can't think of the name of green I like...Okay...anyway I painted our medium sized t.v. room with the "Sweet Corn"...just little ol me...the guy's here moved all furniture for me....and because I do not like to do that taping thing...I took my art brush and painted very carefully along the baseboards and up by the ceiling...took long...but I didn't seem to mind....Anyway that is my favorite room in my house....
Is anyone out there still awake.....oh my....we'll see what tomorrow
brings to my still barley crisp brain cells......
Nite Kids.....see you in the funny papers......

Hello....
Was thinking of what a great country I live in...
Easy to be complacent and take all our "Goodies"
for granted....when I turn on the kitchen facet...the bath-
room sink...the tub...how many countries on this planet...
would find that little practice...unbelievable and mind-boggling....fresh water coming out of those facets....abundant
water to drink....not muddy and full of germs as it is in some places... flushing the toilet...unheard of in many place...food to eat...and plenty of it....transportation to take us anywhere in the world we want to go....opportunities to make a good living...and keep our families in food and shelter....clothed and other amenities....Just pick up the phone and make an appointment with a doctor....freedom to vote for our government leaders....freedom to worship as we please...freedom to speak out....even if it is contrary to public opinion.....I wish everyone on earth had these things.... I know that some places that are not "civilized" and "modern" the people there spend each day gathering food...enjoying their type of shelter...and enjoying their families and their particular life style...they are happy.....Lovely...
It is the countries where there is hunger and no shelter that is substantial...etc... where there is rampant disease...where there is no hope...It is those places that I hurt for......that I pray for a better future....And with all that I think of and salute Mother Teresa....
She had the most enormous servants heart................
That is whats on Louisa's mind tonight.........Louisa

To craft or not to craft....that is the question....

I'm a crafter...and happy to be one...
I think my first experience with crafting
was way back in the early years of my
marriage....I chose to make candles...I
remember saving milk carton's and I
think small tins...like tuna cans....and I
poured candle wax ...in one color and let
that set up...then went back and poured
another color...these were sensational and
just beautiful....I thought...I also remember
obtaining some sand and made like kidney
shaped holes in that sand and pouring the
candle wax in that...I made dozens...because
I never do anything smallish...I plough ahead
and my candles were many... as if born by happy
candle making rabbits....next I put rope around
just about all my vases...and a few lamps...large
ones to boot...Watch out kids!!! I spray painted many a frame with that spray that left them rough and sandy looking...
So today there is Pinterest...where one can find project
after project of crafts to do...Here are some I saw...bottle
caps with pictures in the center with magnate for frige...
beautiful wreath for Christmas made of white straws with red
stripes...really simple...really clever....I saw roped vases and lamps...still popular...of course candle making ever a good craft...This idea was intriguing ...an old refrigerator covered in some kind of perhaps wall paper ...it was turned sideways and short legs were attached to it...when you opened the door...it was full of ice...it had been turned into a glorified and large ice chest...to accommodate a really big soiree....One of my prized possessions are two boxes...sturdy...one small ...one meduim...and from a craft show many years ago I learned to
paint them with a method that made them look like marble....I use them both for decoration...In my opinion you don't have to decorate with costly items...that's why as I said in yesterdays post...why I liked Ruth Graham...she liked the old things that were cast offs of others ...you know someones trash...another's treasure.....I also adore this way to recycle and enjoy a used item......so go to your local thrift store...especially when your looking for something in particular....the selections are interesting and don't forget the individual who now and then buys some old thing and it turns out to be the genuine thing worth thousands....I should be so lucky........Whatever!
I remain....devoted to my blog...and my blog loves me...I know this...................see you dear kids.....one and all .....in the funny papers...........................louisa...shall I find a painting  for you to lay your eye balls on....Okay...I will do as you say......This is an large empty dvd cylinder...watch out or I'll paint your arm...Ha!ha!

Commendable...............

Here's a commendable story....from a young man in S. Carolina...
Valedictorian of his class...upon arriving at the podium...he tore
up his prepared speech, that was approved by the "speech approving
people" and instead proceeded to recite "The Lords Prayer"....Why
here is a prime example of a person taking a stand...doing what is right
for him...protesting the schools decision to not allow prayer
at this years graduation ceremony....The young man said he was
raised with prayer and by golly...there was going to be prayer
in this ceremony....Cheers from the young audience was loud
and approving and proud...I would believe...good for this young
man....
Another commendable story...a relative of mine who is a "Dust
Free Blasterer"....gave a church looking for a blasterer to take the
paint off a V.W. Volkswagon... a quote which was half of what he
would have normally charged for this kind of job...
Knowing that the church was going to auction off this classic car
after it was completely renovated....for charity....
Last thought from Louisa..........You know the wife of Billy Graham....
Ruth Graham...I read her life story...and I ended up becoming acquainted
with a lovely lady...who was down to earth sweet and kind...and she
loved to shop and find great treasures at thrift stores...how's that for
down to earth...her home was filled with wonderful pieces that she
refurbished or left as is....I like that...I also like thrift stores...looking
for unique vases...I have found three...and my cat's colorful and pretty
water bowl is from there other things as well...so Ruth Graham....I like you and I
like very much your dear husband... and you and he shall be together
again..........
Speaking of vases....know where I keep these three....in my bathroom...
with a rose...or a flower of any kind will go in them ...for my complete and
appreciative pleasure...Think about it...your brushing your teeth or
washing your hands...just put your head down a bit and whiff that
beautiful scented rose...or just look into the heart of that flower as
you wash your hands...I tell you it is one of the best ideas I have
had in sometime........
All right my friends...whoever you are...where ever you are...I'm listening
to my precious I-pod...so I'm singing...loud...gives me a rush of good indorfins....
I remain happy to be doing my dear little blog.............Louisa

MY FRYING PAN AND I................................

My dears....are you there?...It's okay...
I am going to post for you all today a
new poem I wrote last night...the subject
material is a little odd I confess...don't know
what actually brought the thought to my still
semi-healthy brain cells...So here goes....

How I love my fry pan......
I use it to make my quesidillas...my grilled
cheese...just anything I please...fried potatoes...
and fried chicken too...then some gravy for me
and you...fried eggs and scrambled eggs...wanton's
filled with meat...these are always a treat...sauteed
onions and peppers...with the fajitas they go...don't
forget my sloppy joe...spaghetti sauce...cheese sauce...
brown rice too...no more white rice for me and you....
chinese stir fry is my pick...passing on the chop stick...
do any of you simmer hot dogs in water in your fry
pan...you can...wish I had one right now!...and for
my sweet tooth...in my fry pan I melt some sugar...
for my flan...outta sight...it's so right....and now and
then...in my fry pan I melt some butter...then add some
brown sugar...some chopped nuts if I have...and top it
all off with biscuits from a can...
And now I'm finished with my fry pan story...hope it
wasn't to gory...( as long as it rhymes!)....and now I
leave you with hot dogs dancing in my head...I head
for the fridge.................
Until next time...see you in the funny papers....Louisa

ONE MORE THING ON MOVIES....FOLKS....

Wow my mind did forget another issue that is astonishing
to me....WHY do some movies have to be so violent...so
violent and so gory....it is a monumental pity that the youth
are seeing so much of this type of interaction between people...
every day people...doing such hideous things to each other..
What do you believe.....I believe that ....life imitates art....
some of you might believe that... art imitates life.....I think
the amount of violence in our society is due to what the
people are seeing on a regular basis....kids have the opportunity
to watch a show (in the summer when mom has to be at work)
like Jerry Springer...and now Maury Povich...these shows are
teaching our children that to settle something with another
human being by hitting, punching, cursing at that person...is
totally acceptable....wake up America....
L.

GOTTA SAY..........

Gotta say in light of my previous sharing of my favorite
movie stars of the past...and movies old and some new...
I will risk ticking off some of my hundreds of readers with these....
heartfelt comments....Some of today's movies leave me
wondering if the "juveniles" writing the scripts...producing the
movie...directing the movie...and even acting in the movie are
playing a joke on my overly sensitive psyche....I say this for several
reasons...not even counting the material that makes up the
movie..i.e. dialog...the movie making no sense what so ever....
For me the "juveniles" excessive use of the "F" word and many
other swear words....and of course the many backsides that
the actor or actress has to show us ( the audience) in order for
the movie to be "complete"....I understand that some
actress's and actors are "compelled" to show even more...I
took my sis to a movie some years ago...and when Meg Ryan
started to shall we say...simulate pleasuring herself...I got up
and told my sister...we're leaving...as we left I yelled up into
the audience..."Your watching pornography"....some laughed...
but my stand I took...was for me and me alone...and I got our
money back too...my point is that the young people out there
no nothing but these kinds of movies...it is such a shame...they
have missed out on...a movie that is wonderfully entertaining
with dialog that is lacking so many offensive words...with people
who's cloths stay on...with a love scene that is done with taste and
with class...poor audience of today...they just don't know................
So with that I bid you farewell for this day...
Ciao.... see you in the funny papers..........Louisa

HOME SWEET HOME................................

It's late after returning home from my last bible
study evening of the year...( we return in Sept.)

brought home from bible study...busy talking to
the people and did not take time to eat there...(some
one brings dessert each week) sorry...this is pathetically

IM SORRY....IM SORRY....IM SORRY...IM SORRY...IM SORRY........................

I just had someone I care very much about say..."I'm sorry....
to me...and I said it back...That this person said I'm sorry was
in my opinion the right and good and honorable thing to do...and for me to say I'm sorry back was perfect for me to say.....It was a mutual I'm sorry moment...and the result is so
neat...so lovely...as I did not expect an "I'm sorry from this person"....our little insignificant squabble was so stinken petty...and unimportant..( as so many little fightsy's are) but still they can sting and leave you feeling rotten and sad...but
now I'm in the
"I'm sorry has been said"...happy place....this is why I contend that some of life's surprising and uplifting moments are worth a million bucks...worth savoring with great gusto and with great delight...That's right those are the words that popped into my head...a little dramatic for some perhaps...but for Louisa...they ring so true...so real...so right....and with that I will bring my vast and beautiful readers one of my delightful paintings....I am not being self centered here...no I don't believe so...my paintings are delightful to me...and wouldn't it be strange if I found them to be well like hideous and stupid....why would I paint such things...Ok. I'm wondering...
See you...my hundreds of readers in the funny papers.....
Louisa.....ooops picture up there...don't know what happened!!!
